Adventure Open - CrossCountry Competition 2007

1. Competition goals
The main goal of the competition is to determine a champion, and fairly to rank all pilots individually according to the presented knowledge, skills and decision-making. Additional aims are to develop paragliding and competitiveness and friendship between pilots of all nations, improving pilots' knowledge and skills and safe flying.

2. Participating pilots (no matter age or gender):
- Have the necessary experience for safe flying in strong mountain conditions; - Hold valid FAI licence; - Are equipped with: paraglider, harness, reserve parachute, helmet and GPS (for all other models except GARMIN and Brauniger, bring your PC cable).

3. The tasks will be "Race to goal" or "Free Distance".
The individual ranking of pilots will be made with using the program RACE/GAP. There will be prices for both pilots flying competition and performance (up to DHV 2) gliders.

4. Safety rules
- Entering and flying in clouds is forbidden; - Except the first thermal above the take off (which turning direction - counter or clockwise will be given by organizers daily), all other thermals are turned in the direction set by the first pilot entering it, no matter of height. In case of multicore thermals turning with the same direction of neighboring thermalling pilots is recommended; - Entering a thermal in which are thermalling other pilots is made tangentially and not through the middle of their circles; - All pilots with radio are obliged to switch it on to the frequency as determined by the organizers. This frequency will be used for emergency cases or dangerous changes in meteorological conditions. All radio contacts on other frequencies are forbidden.

Canceling a task by a competitor in order to help a crashed pilot will be compensated and encouraged by organizers.

It is recommended that all the pilots are prepared to help in first aid.

In case of an accident, the radio procedure is: - "MAY DAY, MAY DAY, MAY DAY"; - nature and location (GPS coordinates if possible) of the accident; - name (if known) and condition of the victim (Is he moving? Answering the radio?); - close and safe landing possibilities (be aware of dislodging stones if landing above the victim); - name and competition number of the reporting pilot. Then the pilot witnessing the accident may be given instructions to fly in the vicinity of the accident (if possible) and give more information or help.

When reaching the victim: - Check of vital functions and condition (pulse, breathing, open and closed fractures, external and internal bleeding) and if needed first aid is applied (artificial breathing and heart massage, stopping the bleeding, immobilizing); - Reporting the situation; - Preparing the area for the coming of a rescue team or a helicopter (packing the gliders etc.);

If possible, the victim pilot must contact the organizers quickly (through radio or mobile phone) and inform about the nature of the accident, type of injuries and his location.

Pilots unable to complete the course must inform the organizers of their location immediately after landing (this is to avoid unnesessary rescue action).
